About Mr. Kaupelis
Personal Background
First a little about myself. I originally grew up in a small town called Mayfield, NY. Mayfield is now mostly covered by the Great Sacandaga Lake. The name of the high school that I attended is called Broadalbin-Perth High School, in Broadalbin, NY. I was very involved in the school and the community. I ran Cross Country in the fall, Indoor Track in the winter, and Outdoor Track in the Spring. My event in high school was the 3200 meter. Other than athletics, I was crucial in starting the Math Club. I was also a member of the National Honor Society and National Science Honor Society. I was also involved in the select choir called the Vocal Ensemble.
Outside of school, I was a member of the St. Joseph's Adult Church Choir. Additionally, I was the President of the Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corp. Explorer Post. We were a youth group that served the community through fundraisers, learning CPR and First Aid, and observing calls in which ambulance transport was needed.
I decided to go to college at Plattsburgh State University College, located in the Northern Adirondack Foothills. For my first three years there, I ran Varsity Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track. During the Spring 2003 Semester I became a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. With Sigma Tau Gamma, I have held the positions of Risk Management Chair and Recruitment Chair. I work in the Claude J. Clarke Learning Center as a Peer Tutor, tackling both one on one appointments as well as group walk-in's. During the Fall 2004 Semester I decided to become a Resident Assistant. As an RA I work with my residents to create a safe learning environment as well as a floor community.
While at Plattsburgh, I met my wife Allison. As long as I have known her, she has been there every time I've needed her and always seems to make me smile. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Masters in Psychology and Counseling. She is now the Director of Operations at the Best Western Plus Ticonderoga.
One of my biggest passions is the Adirondack Park, only because you can do so much with it, and so much of it encompasses my other joys in life. For example, I love to hike. I love digital photography. I love to canoe. I love to study local history. Most importantly, I love to run. I enjoy scouting for antiques. I enjoy county fairs. I enjoy skiing, both nordic and alpine. I enjoy ice fishing. I enjoy hunting. The Adirondack Park is the perfect place for ALL of these things.
