Regents Geometry
dkaupelis@ticonderogak12.org
Course Description and Expectations:
The purpose of this course is two fold (1) Prepare students for the New York State Regents Examination in Common Core Geometry; and, (2) Prepare students for topics that will be required in Algebra II and an Advanced Regents Diploma. Topics will include Trigonometry, Formal Proofs, Indirect Proofs, Constructions, Coordinate Geometry, Transformations, and Solid Geometry. Additionally techniques learned in Common Core Algebra will be maintained and expanded.
Grading Policy:
Quizzes: 10 quizzes each
marking period, 10 points each
Homework: Given every day, 3 points each day
Tests: Announced. 100 points each, 3-4 each marking period
Exams: Cumulative in scope, 200 points, students have no more than one class period
to complete each section
Term grade is quotient of points obtained divided by points possible.
Midterm/Final Exam:
There is no midterm for this class. The final exam will be the Common Core Geometry Regents Exam given in June. A student’s final grade will be calculated by averaging each quarter grade with the final exam grade.
Late Work:
Work will be accepted late given the
following conditions:
1. Homework that is turned in on time is worth 3 points.
Homework turned in late is worth 1 point.
Incomplete homework is worth 0 points.
2. Tests and quizzes may be corrected for half of
points missed.
3. Exams are not allowed to be corrected (This is the
last test of each quarter)
Test Make-ups:
1. Students are responsible for any work they miss while they are absent, therefore tests will be expected to be completed upon that students return to school.
Homework Policy:
1. Homework is given
everyday.
2. To earn full credit, homework must be
COMPLETED at the beginning of class.
3.
Students are reponsible for checking the accuracy of their own homework during
class.
4. There is no partial credit on
incomplete homework.
Grading Timeframe:
Powerschool can be expected to be updated every Tuesday, except in extenuating circumstances. In such cases, grades will be made available shortly after the week begins.
Non-Regents Geometry
dkaupelis@ticonderogak12.org
Course Description and Expectations:
This is a course designed to explore the ideas of Geometry, including introductory proofs. Through the use of a graphing calculator, students will investigate Solving Advanced Equations, Geometric Constructions and Locus, Coordinate Geometry, Transformational Geometry, Circles, and Linear Algebra. This course is intended for students who have completed Algebra and wish to further explore these topics through Geometry.
Grading Policy:
Quizzes: 10 quizzes each marking period, 10 points each
Homework: Given most days, 3 points each day
Tests: Announced. 100 points each, 3-4 each marking period
Term grade is quotient of points obtained divided by points possible.
Midterm/Final Exam:
The midterm will be a project where students can apply what they have learned in the first half of the year. The final exam will be a standard exam, testing on everything learned during the year. A student’s final grade will be calculated by averaging each quarter grade, the midterm grade, and the final exam grade.
Late Work:
Work will be accepted late given the following conditions:
1. Homework that is turned in on time is worth 3 points.
Homework turned in late is worth 1 point.
Incomplete homework is worth 0 points.
2. Tests and quizzes may be corrected for half of
points missed.
Test Make-ups:
1. Students are responsible for any work they miss while they are absent, therefore tests will be expected to be completed upon that students return to school.
Homework Policy:
1.
Homework is given everyday, excluding after a test.
2. To earn full credit, homework must be
COMPLETED at the beginning of class.
3.
Students are reponsible for checking the accuracy of their own homework during
class.
4. There is no partial credit on
incomplete homework.

Math 8

Grading Policy:
Quizzes: 10 quizzes each marking period, 10 points each
Homework: Given every day, 3 points each day
Tests: Announced. 100 points each, 3-4 each marking period
